Christopher Engels is an experienced, dedicated and thorough attorney with a passion to fighting diligently and aggressively for his clients. Chris grew up here in Orange County where he was born in Mission Viejo. His love for surfing and swimming kept him close to the beach as a kid before he would depart on a journey that took him to the Northwest when he attended Washington State University. Chris played water polo for four years and graduated on the Deans List with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Operations Management and an Economics minor.
After college, Chris moved to Bend, Oregon where he started his General Contracting company. Chris’ company focused on high end single family dwelling new and remodel construction as well as commercial construction focused on restaurants. While Chris was succeeding in his construction career, life had different plans for him. On a fateful night, a person broke into his fiancé’s house where he was staying, pulled a gun and tried to murder Chris in an unprovoked jealous attack. The assailant was identified as his fiancé’s ex-boyfriend and after it took two years for the process to play out, the assailant getting five years in prison, Chris knew there was another calling for him so he enrolled in law school. Chris graduated from North Western California School of Law only four years after the incident so that he could fight for all the innocent people that have been through family law trauma.
One of his greatest strengths is bringing real-life experience to his family law practice. Divorce is never an easy process for anyone, it can be intimidating and scary, especially if the other side has been threatening in any way. Chris is a victim of Domestic Violence, he came from a broken home, as a child he watched his mother get beaten by her boyfriend, he has been through the system, he’s been divorced himself, knows what it is like to be away from the kids, owns his own businesses, and can relate to all of his clients that are suffering through these hard times.
This compassion, caring and empathy that Chris has with his clients makes him more than a lawyer, it makes him personally invested in his clients’ cases. Chris has also been through the minor’s counsel training course so that he empowered himself with the training needed to help children navigate through these confusing times. This is very important to Chris, the children, they come first, and you won’t find anyone that fights harder for the kids.
